By train
Aachen is linked to the international railway network. Every two hours, the high-speed train THALYS operates via Aachen between Paris and Cologne. Besides ICE trains run from Frankfurt to Brussels via Aachen. There are direct connections to the cities of Cologne, Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Siegen, Frankfurt/Main and Hamm. An hourly connection to Heerlen links Aachen to the Dutch railway system.

By plane
- Airport Frankfurt, 246 km away from Aachen
Frankfurt airport has its own ICE railway station from where you will get to Cologne in about an hour. Cologne central station offers a straight connection to Aachen via train. Alternatively three times a day Frankfurt airport offers a connection directly to Aachen. If you travel by car you can take the A3/E35 to cologne and from there the A4/E5 to Aachen. - Airport Düsseldorf, 90 km away from Aachen
From Düsseldorf airport there is a railway connection to Düsseldorf Central Station. From there you will get several straight connections to Aachen via train. Alternatively, there is a direct connection from the airport to Aachen via Cologne. If you travel by car you can take the A46 -> A61 -> A44. - Airport Cologne/Bonn, 85 km away from Aachen
Cologne airport offers train and shuttle services to Cologne central station. From there you will get a straight connection to Aachen via train. If you travel by car, you can take the A4/E5. - Airport Maastricht-Aachen (NL), 41 km away from Aachen
Maastricht-Aachen offers a shuttle service to Maastricht central station. From there you will get several connections to Aachen. Alternatively you can take a bus (line 50) or rent a car and take the A4/E5 to Aachen. - Airport Brussels (B), 143 km away from Aachen
From Brussels airport you can take a local train to Brussels Midi station and from there the THALYS or ICE to Aachen central station. Alternatively you can take local trains to Liège and from there change to another local train to Aachen. If you travel by car, please take the E40 via Liège to Aachen.
